Adela Flores, MA, MPA, Director: Adela Flores grew up in Laredo, Texas, and has a deep-rooted love for the border region, where her family has lived for many generations. While earning her Masters in Latin American Studies, she focused on Mexican history and politics, with an emphasis on the US-Mexico border. Adela later pursued a Master’s in Public Administration and has applied her combined educational experience to working with nonprofit organizations serving Latinos on a local, regional, and national level. She has been a part of the Conjunto Heritage Taller since 2008, alternating in the role as staff and board member. She served as the President of the Board of Directors from 2015-2017, and is now serving as Director at the Taller.
Valeria Alderete, BBA, Program Assistant: Valeria is a native of San Antonio’s Westside who brings to the Taller her professional experience and passion for culture and arts! From her early childhood through high school, Valeria enjoyed participating in many after-school programs — some of which included Folklorico dance, theater, and accordion lessons. Through these programs, she was mentored by renowned creatives such as Felicitas Luna, Vincent Toro, and Joel Guzman — all of whom she credits for teaching her not only their art forms, but to appreciate art as well. She completed her B.B.A. in international management, with a minor in marketing at UTSA and has completed Music Business coursework at SAC. Valeria has professional experience in community outreach, operations, marketing, and international market research. She actively volunteers and partakes in many cultural art events in her community and enjoys her role as the Program Assistant for the CHT.
