On behalf of the Conjunto Heritage Taller Familia, we want to extend our deepest condolences to the Martinez family. Lorenzo Martinez passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2020 in his home, alongside family. As one of our longest serving maestros, having taught with CHT for over 17 years, Lore was deeply admired and cherished by us all and played an instrumental role in our organization and the conjunto community at large, sharing his wealth of music knowledge with so many. Lore will be deeply missed by all of the CHT familia. His dedication to conjunto music is an inspiration to all of his students and friends. We will continue to hold him in our hearts and cherish his immense contributions to conjunto music.

In lieu of flowers, the Martinez family graciously welcomes donations to the Conjunto Heritage Taller in memory of Lorenzo Martinez.

Preserving Conjunto music for generations to come

The Conjunto Heritage Taller is a community based organization dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of traditional conjunto music as played with the button accordion and bajo sexto. Established in 2002 to provide low-cost music instruction and to seek venues for its students to perform publicly, CHT is committed to exposing the community at large to conjunto music by providing music when invited and available to do so.

Our Story

Conjunto — the traditional music of South Texas — dates back to the end of the 19th century….

Help Keep Conjunto Music Alive!

As a non-profit organization, the Conjunto Heritage Taller offers low cost, and sometimes free lessons, to make this opportunity accessible to anyone who has an interest in learning. We rely on grants and contributions from individuals to make this possible. Please consider donating to CHT.
